Darling Harbour, Ride Into The Night: At Tumbalong Lights (Vivid Acitivity), 25th May - 16 June, Free
Ride Into the Night: At Tumbalong Lights channels the glory days of the suburban roller rink — but with a difference. Instead of roller skates, all participants circle the rink in wheelchairs. This creates a truly interactive and inclusive play experience accessible to everyone. The rink itself reflects its proximity to the harbour and the ocean through aquatic-themed interactive light projections, LED panels and immersive seascapes. Participants literally ride the oceans in sessions of up to three minutes, with a maximum of 10 participants on the rink for each session.
Those participating can share the experience with family and friends or interact with other riders wheeling around them. Those with wheelchairs use their own; those without can simply borrow an illuminated chair from the rink. All riders are issued with safety helmets.
The speed and excitement of the experience can be adjusted for younger children or for those with special needs.
Ride Into the Night is one of four inclusive play experiences that make up Tumbalong Lights at Darling Harbour.
For the first time at Vivid Sydney, Tumbalong Lights offers an opportunity for families who have children with a disability to pre-book free tickets free-of-charge to ensure a seamless festival experience.
