CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL
When: Saturday 26 January 2019 from 11.00am to 3.00pm
Where: Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour, Sydney

Welcome to a world of giggle-tainment. It starts with the superstars of kids' fun, The Wiggles. Then jiggle it just a little bit more with live music from The Vegetable Plot, The Beanies and more interactive entertainment.

TRUE BLUE BUSH GAMES (12:00 PM TO 3:00 PM)

Throw a thong, see how much watermelon you can chomp your way through or chuck a steak on the barbie. Get involved and win a prize!

Have you ever dreamed of joining the circus? Here’s your chance!

Join the fun and interactive circus for kids and adults.

Peddle your heart out on a unicycle, try your hand at juggling, test your balance on sky-high stilts, and keep things balanced and spinning.

ROVING PERFORMERS (11:00 AM TO 3:00 PM)

Darling Harbour will be full of zany and peculiar characters once again. Can you find them? Try to catch the giant bouncing roos, stilt pirates and roving seagulls.

AFTERNOON SUMMER SESSIONS (3:00 PM TO 8:00 PM)

Ok mum and dad, now it’s your turn to party. Check out the Afternoon Summer Sessions. Darling Harbour comes to life all afternoon with fine dining and fantastic outdoor venues. Grab a drink at the pop-up bar then cut loose to some essential funk and soul music – including nine-piece funk-soul powerhouse band, The Bamboos, live on the main stage.

AUSTRALIA DAY LIVE 2019
When:
 Saturday 26 January 2018 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm
Where: Circular Quay

It’s the whole shebang! Watch Australia’s biggest music stars rock out on the big screens around Circular Quay as everything else hits the water – a flotilla of yachts, jet skis, flyboarders and much more. Get to Circular Quay with time to spare and don’t miss the spectacular fireworks throughout the show.

The line-up of Aussie artists includes the soulful Kate Ceberano, the renowned Sydney Symphony Orchestra, rocker Jon Stevens, funk instrumentalist and vocalist Harts, tenor Josh Piterman, a revitalised Yothu Yindi and The Treaty Project, along with hitmakers Ricki-LeeAnthony CalleaKarise Eden and Conrad Sewell.

Musical director and composer John Foreman OAM, singer Kate Ceberano, journalist Jeremy Fernandez and TV actor Luke Carroll will host Australia's best talent on our biggest day of the year.

    • 7:30 PM — Welcome to Country performance with local Aboriginal elders, dancers and singer

      8:00 PM — Tug and Yacht Ballet performed by a flotilla of maritime vessels

      8:20 PM — Sunset Ceremony with Yothu Yindi and The Treaty Project, featuring the Koomurri Aboriginal Dance Troupe and a dazzling lighting and fireworks spectacle

      8:45 PM — Tribute to Opera sung by tenor Josh Piterman and choir, accompanied by a stunning yacht ballet and lighting display, jet skis and fireworks

      9:00 PM — Quay-wide party with an exciting on-water show and fireworks

      9:15 PM — Spectacular finale with live musical medley of Australian classics synchronised with jet skis, flyboards and a breathtaking lighting and fireworks display.

THE WIGGLES CONCERTS

Everyone’s favourite entertainment group will again bring energy and fun to Darling Harbour on Australia Day. Guaranteed giggles for the whole family, The Wiggles will perform its greatest hits in a concert for the kids.

Free tickets to The Wiggles Australia Day concert will be released on Wednesday 16 January 2019.

TUG & YACHT BALLET
When:

It’s the waltz to watch from the water’s edge. An eclectic company of yachts, tugboats, jet skis and ferries dance effortlessly across the harbour in a magically choreographed show.

AUSTRALIA DAY HARBOUR PARADE
When: Saturday 26 January 2019 from 12.45pm to 2pm
Where: Sydney Harbour, Sydney NSWLook out! The harbour is recast with bright colours and flags, with an armada of vessels of all shapes and sizes parading the waves.

FERRYTHON
When: Saturday 26 January 2019 from 10:45am to 11.30am
Where: Sydney Harbour

One of Australia’s most iconic free events is back. Our beloved ferries race from Circular Quay to Shark Island and then back to a glorious finish at the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

RACE IN FERRYTHON

You can book a seat as a passenger in the Ferrython. 

Get dressed in blue and join in the annual Ferrython race on the Blue Ferry, as it goes head to head from Circular Quay to Shark Island and then back to a glorious finish at the Sydney Harbour Bridge. 

Tickets cost $155 each and include morning tea, wine, beer, non-alcoholic drinks, a premium lunch box and a chance to take out the title of fastest ferry in Sydney!

SALUTE TO AUSTRALIA
When: Saturday 26 January 2019 from 11:30am to 12:05pm
Where: Position yourself at Hickson Rd, Circular Quay, OPT, Sydney Opera House or Bradfield Park.
Price: Free

A stirring 21-gun military salute from our armed forces and the awe-inspiring HMAS Choules.

Hear the NSW Governor’s Address then join a crowd of epic choirs – young and old from across NSW – to sing our national anthem to the sky as RAAF fast jets soar overhead.

AUSTRALIA DAY AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE

Where: Government House, Sydney

Anyone for a picnic? Bring a basket and stroll the astonishing gardens in and around Government House, home of the Governor of New South Wales.

This Australia Day, escape to an oasis in the heart of the city’s harbour-side celebrations for a free, fun and family-friendly experience at Government House, Sydney.

From 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, come on in and discover Sydney’s ‘Castle by the Harbour’.

Explore the exquisite state rooms, picnic in the magnificent gardens, kick back and enjoy the musical entertainment, dabble in a spot of croquet, check out displays and be charmed by the world’s cutest puppies from Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.

Life Education (including the giraffe Healthy Harold)Croquet NSW, the Bush Children’s Education FoundationQuilt NSWGuide Dogs NSW/ACT, and the Kids Neuroscience Centre are amongst the community organisations participating. A donation can be made to support these community groups.

Musical performances will be provided by the thoroughly entertaining NSW Fire Brigade and NSW Police bands. Sausages will be sizzling with sales supporting the Scouts NSW.

IN THE SKY
When:
 Saturday 26 January 2019 from 12pm to 2pm
Where: Above Sydney Harbour, Sydney NSW

RAAF fast jets, a Navy helicopter and a Qantas aircraft shoot across the sky before Red Berets parachute over Farm Cove.

In the Sky is supported by the Department of Defence and part of the Sydney Harbour program brought to you by P&O Cruises.

AUSTRALIA DAY 2018 – LIVE AT SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE

Where: Watch the concert on Network Ten or TenPlay. Ticket holders, head to the Sydney Opera House forecourt (access via Macquarie Street, avoid east Circular Quay) Sydney NSW

Australia Day Live at Sydney Opera House promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Australia’s musical stars take to the stage in an unforgettable concert, featuring dazzling firework displays and a breathtaking maritime extravaganza.

Tickets will be released on Wednesday, 16 January 2019. TICKETED ZONE BOOKED OUT. Tickets are free and available until allocation is exhausted. Only ticket holders will be admitted into the Sydney Opera House forecourt. Entry after 6.30pm is not guaranteed.

  • Overseas Passenger Terminal

Viewing will NOT be available from:

  • level 4 balcony of the Overseas Passenger Terminal

  • Circular Quay train station and wharf

  • Circular Quay southern promenade

  • Cahill Expressway Walkway.

There are no fireworks on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or outside Circular Quay.
