This summer unleash your creativity in a world where imagination meets the sea. Step inside our indoor play and discovery space to encounter a wonderland of giant fishy inflatables, squishy squid, hands-on art-making, sensory installations evocative of the sea, and discovery zones.
Venture outside to join a workshop on exploring the harbour using remotely operated submersibles, peer beneath the surface on the floating science pontoon and relax under misting umbrellas. Mingle with giant shark sculptures and contemporary artworks from our new exhibition On Sharks & Humanity.

Creative Workshop for kids 8-14 years
Every school holidays, we host full-day workshops for kids to learn creative skills. Aimed at kids aged 8-14, courses include photography, animation, print-making and videography. These summer holidays join us for two 2-day workshops in photography and videography, or a 1-day workshop on claymation.
Photo Pros – 2 day Workshop
Take your photography skills to the next level in this 2 day intensive course. Be inspired by the museum's harbourside surrounds as you go on outdoor photo shoots and master the art of shooting dark indoor spaces, moving subjects, macro photography and more. Learn to use manual modes on a digital SLR camera as well as photo editing skills. Then, have your finished work displayed in a special exhibition at the museum!

Discover how to produce your own stop-motion and clay animations inspired by our current exhibitions in this fun-filled 1-day workshop. Create your own animation to share and have your work featured on the museum’s YouTubechannel.
Monday 21 January, 10am – 4pm
Reporting Live from the Abyss - 2 day TV presenting Workshop
Create and star in your own imaginative TV segments inspired by our Summer exhibitions! Learn clever techniques in green-screen, scripting, directing, acting and film-making as you produce your own creative digital stories. then, have your finished work displayed for family and friends in a special-event cinema screening.

Family Torchlight Tour
Join your character guide for a dramatic after-dark tour through the spectacular On Sharks and Humanity exhibition. Enjoy creative capers, light refreshments and exclusive after-hours access to the museum.
Don't forget to bring your torches and comfortable shoes for walking.

Friendly Sundays Access Program
Enjoy a comfortable environment for kids and adults with a variety of sensory differences.
On Sensory-Friendly Sundays, the Imaginarium will be open extra-early for a quieter experience that's modified to suit people on the autism spectrum and with a range of differing abilities. Our trained staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions you have and facilitate creative activities.

Under 5s Summer Tours
Explore amazing creatures that live under the sea through movement, songs and storytime in a fun and interactive learning program especially designed for toddlers.
Afterwards head to our new immersive Aquatic Imaginarium for fun crafts and messy play.

Bailey loves to get out and about, and has a regularly scheduled walk around the museum every day at 2:30pm. Of course, not every day is the same, and sometimes Bailey is busy or the weather is terrible.
If you're visiting the museum, check at the front desk to see if you'll bump into Bailey that afternoon.

Vacation care or childcare groups can enjoy a full day of organised activities every school holidays. Our vacation care program runs from 10 am – 4 pm and includes:

Parking: Visitors to the museum can park all day for $15 at Harbourside Secure Parking, located at 100 Murray Street, Pyrmont. Remember to get your parking ticket stamped at the museum reception. Parking is also available at The Star, 80 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont for $15 valid between the hours of 8am-6.30pm only. Remember to get your parking ticket validated at the museum front of house desk. More information and hourly rates outside of the offer period. There is also limited metered street parking near the museum.
