Craving that summer sun and fun outdoor activities?
Get excited because Waterworld Central, Australia’s first mobile water park, is returning to the Entertainment Quarter for another summer of fun!  Splash your heart out in giant inflatable pools and dare to take the slide of your life on the Dino Slide.

Kids vs Wild - Water Fun

Keep cool this summer – join our educators for two hours of water fun away from the beach. Learn to make a water filter, run the wet sponge gauntlet, avoid the spray of the spitting cobra, and explore our ponds with some dip netting. These activities are heaps of fun for kids and they will also gain knowledge that will help them with their STEM classes in the next terms.

WILD PLAY Taste of Bush School

Bush School is an outdoor program and will take place in all-weather except for high winds. It is recommended children wear old clothes and gumboots. A spare change of clothes is advised. Participants (adults and children) are expected to dress for the outdoors, including bringing wet weather gear, a hat, sturdy enclosed shoes and waterproof footwear when required.

The Australian Wildlife Show

Join us for an amazing Wildlife Show and find out who lives in Oz!

The experienced rangers of Australian Wildlife Display will bring a range of animals from cute and cuddly to scaly and scary! You will see them, hear their story, and maybe even touch them or have a photo taken with them!

And why not make it a day – enjoy The Ian Potter Children’s WILD PLAY Garden afterwards.

Pizza Party in the Bush

Combine all the joys of food with the great outdoors in our new children’s event.

Kids will learn all about native Australian plants, and how they were used by the Aboriginal people. Bring all the ingredients together to make your very own yummy pizza, from materials right here in Centennial Park.

This session is packed full of games for kids from 5-12.

Bush Rangers - Water Fun

The greatest alternative to screen time!

Led by our experienced team of Bush Rangers, children will enjoy a day of wildlife, bushcraft, outdoor challenges, games and free play, all in the great outdoors of Centennial Parklands. Activities are designed to allow children to play outside and to take part in problem solving and cooperative challenges. This program is a firm holiday favourite and places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

This program will focus on the theme 'water', and will include mini raft building, water games and a visit to the Ian Potter Children's WILD PLAY Garden!

Special notes: This program will go ahead in all weather except high winds, so please come prepared with wet weather gear. Children must wear enclosed shoes. Please bring morning tea and lunch.

Spotlight Prowl for Families

Dusk is a wonderful time to spot animals in Centennial Parklands. The park is home to a variety of nocturnal creatures, from brushtail possums, microbats, and tawny frogmouths to one of Sydney’s largest colonies of grey-headed flying-foxes. 

Join our experienced Rangers for a fascinating and surprising spotlight walk to see how the Park transforms when the sun goes down.

Summer Special: during the summer months, the walks will last 1.5 hours instead of 1 hour. 

What to bring:

  • Enclosed & comfortable shoes

  • Warm clothing - it gets cold after dark!

  • Torch

  • Camera (no flash)

  • Waterproof clothing in case of wet conditions, the walks run rain or shine.

  • A sense of adventure


The Spotlight Prowls are not suitable for large groups or birthday parties (maximum 10 tickets per person allowed). Please contact education@centennialparklands.com.au to make a private booking.

The King and Queen of Green - Theatre Holiday Fun

Princes and princesses of all ages will enjoy this fun and interactive outdoor theatre show.
This interactive show explores the topic of landfill and the simple things we can all do at home to reduce the amount of waste. The King and Queen then lead a “Race to the Right Bin” - choose wisely!

The King & Queen of Green have travelled around Australia performing and giving workshops at schools, festivals and events. They educate audiences about reducing waste to landfill through the use of composting, recycling and worm farms.

Extreme Engineering with Fizzics

Get your build on! The kids will have a blast in this holiday workshop where they put their imagination to the test constructing all sorts of contraptions. Engineers take scientific concepts and use them to make things bigger and better. We’ll be exploring the world of engineering through a series of activities designed to make you creatively think around design challenges.

The course is run by Fizzics Education and is presented by a science educator.

Special notes: 
To make up a full day program, simply book the corresponding morning or afternoon activity on the same day. Centennial Parklands Rangers will provide a supervised lunch break (BYO lunch) from 12.00 noon–1.00 pm and will transition your child to the afternoon activity. The afternoon session that complements Extreme Engineering is Gross and Gory. 

Children to wear old clothes and bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle and a snack (no peanut traces).

Gross and Gory with Fizzics

Ewwww, gross! Explore all things creepy and gooey in the name of studying the human body. Make fake snot, vile vomit bombs, exploding pimples, fake wounds and more. Not for the faint hearted...but so much fun! Wear old clothes in this one!

The course is run by Fizzics Education and is presented by a science educator.

Tuff Nutterz

The world's largest inflatable obstacle course is taking over Centennial Park this summer!
Tuff Nutterz is an excitng 270m long obstacle course with more than 30 different obstacles to complete.

Challenge your friends and family and take on climbing walls, balancing balls, hanging rails ... you name it, it's all there!
 Tuff Nutterz is a fantastic school holiday activity suitable for 8 years and up. Parents can join their children under 10 years, and there will be a jumping castle for younger kids.

Special notes: By purchasing this ticket you confirm that the participant is at least 8 years old. Participants under 10 years old should have an accompanying older (someone 14 or older) in the group to assist them if needed through the course.

We have capacity for 24 Nutterz per 15 minute block and will be sending the troopers off in 4 minute waves of 12 in each.

TIP: Before you choose a session, check the availability of that session and try find one with the highest availability around your preferred time.

ParkArts - Parents and Toddlers Class

Looking for some time to yourself whilst being a busy mum, dad or grandparent? 

Why not join our parents and toddlers’ art morning? Develop your own skills while your toddler has a fantastic time experiencing colours and craft with artist educators. An enjoyable art class where you draw and paint, capturing the magical landscape of the Park. Includes all art materials.

Centennial Park presents this art program in collaboration with Waverley Woollahra Art School.

The amazing artist educators from WWAS will come out to Centennial Park and show you how to improve your skills in capturing the beautiful Parklands.

Wet and Wonderful Science

Get your hands and your brains wet with this super fun workshop exploring the awesome properties of water and bubbles. Jam-packed with hands-on experiments kids do themselves we learn about surface tension, experiment with air pressure, make giant bubbles, launch rockets into the sky and so much more. This program is presented by Fizzics Education. 

Age:Grades 1-6 (in 2019)

Fizzics Education will provide a supervised lunch break (BYO lunch) from 12.00 noon–1.00 pm and will transition your child to the afternoon activity. Pair this with Curious Kids in the afternoon for a full day of science fun!

The program will commence with a minimum of 12 children and a maximum capacity will be 20 children.

Curious Kids with Fizzics

Covering light, sound, movement, energy changes, air pressure and more as your child uses the hands-on science toys and experiments themselves. Plus our demonstrator will show you how can you sit on a chair of nails and shoot fog rings across the room. Then get creative and use what you have learnt about physics to build a track of marble run mayhem around the room! This program is presented by Fizzics Education.
