Family Day at Carriageworks for a fun-filled celebration of storytelling and creativity for kids of all ages. Don't miss never-before-seen stage events with international guests including the creator of precocious third-grader Judy Moody, Megan McDonald; winner of the Waterstones Children's Book Prize and the Costa Children's Book Award, Katherine Rundell and local favourites Sally Rippin, Maxine Beneba Clarke, Dr Karl Kruszelnicki and Matt Cosgrove.

The Big Backyard is as buzzy as ever with free activities to delight young booklovers and creative kids, including the 'Expression Station', illustration, storytelling, craft and dress-ups. Pick up a map of the Family Day Precinct from the information booth and get lost in your imagination.

A Highlight for Little Day Out is ‘Russ the Story Buss. Russ the Story Bus is no ordinary bus! He is a magical library-on-wheels with a belly full of books, covered in the vibrant illustrations of Sophie Beer. Hop aboard, choose from the hundreds of books available, and settle down on a beanbag to read

Sydney Writers' Festival acknowledges the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of this nation. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which our events take place. We pay our respects to ancestors and Elders, past and present.
